Step by step procedure to visualize your data
To be honest, data preparation is the most annoying step of all the procedure.
For generating the final chart we need to collect all the profiles we are interested in. They need to be passed to the application in the form of an XML file. This file can be created by hand even in a common text editor, but an XML editor is preferred. Fortunately, there is an alternative to generate it using a special harvester application. It takes the list of Y-Search IDs, reads the corresponding profiles from the Y-Search database and finally stores all the retrieved records in the appropriate XML structure. To avoid an abuse of this service only first ten records are processed. In case of larger data sets this step needs to be repeated and individual XML results merged by hand into a single file. Keep in mind that the reference profile is the first record in the final XML file.
Once the final data file is ready, it can be uploaded into the web application.
No data are stored permanently by this application. All the temporary data are deleted when your session expires (by closing the browser window or after 20 minutes of inactivity).
The default sample or your own data can be further pre-processed. Either sorted by relevance or filtered combining several criteria.
Setting additional parameters
Individual items can be labeled in the final chart using one of three available attributes.
Generating the chart
Once all the parameters are set, click on the Generate chart button in the page footer. The chart is displayed immediately in the same window.
As this chart is stored in the SVG format, you need a modern web browser to display it correctly.
